Penang, 11 August 2026 – Fulkrum Interactive Technology Sdn. Bhd. was invited to share industry experience at the Industry Talk “Ke Arah Graduan IT Berdaya Saing: Memenuhi Jangkaan Industri Masa Kini” held at Politeknik METrO Tasek Gelugor.

Led by Ms. Nur Safawati Abdul Aziz, Lead Consultant at Fulkrum, the session brought practical insights from the IT workplace to 60 final-semester Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) students and 3 lecturers, covering industry expectations, workplace practices and the skills needed to prepare for a career in IT.

As part of Fulkrum’s CSR initiative, the session focused on helping students understand what employers expect when entering the workforce. Topics included current IT practices, the growing use of AI tools in the workplace, and the technical and soft skills needed to move from academic learning into a professional environment. Career preparation was also discussed, including building portfolios through projects, competitions and hackathons, as well as developing communication and networking skills. The discussion also covered adapting to a new workplace, contributing to a team and building trust during the first 90 days.

The session also walked students through the IT project lifecycle, from requirement gathering and proposal development to testing, deployment and maintenance. The sharing highlighted how each stage contributes to the overall project timeline and outcome.Pn. Siti Fartimah, Head of Academic Department, Politeknik METrO Tasek Gelugor, highlighted that the Industry Talk received a strong response from final-semester DIT students. The industry sharing provided relevant exposure to the actual requirements, challenges and expectations of the IT workplace, particularly as preparation before industrial training.The sharing also helped students connect classroom learning with workplace situations and better understand the skills, competencies, work ethics and professional attitude required by the industry.

Students were also introduced to Fulkrum’s work in software and digital transformation, covering software development, system integration, cybersecurity, cloud hosting and IT consulting. The overview gave students a closer look at the different areas of work within the IT industry.

Pn. Siti Fartimah expressed appreciation to Fulkrum for sharing industry knowledge, experience and perspectives with DIT students, while highlighting the importance of continued collaboration between the polytechnic and industry to strengthen the quality and employability of DIT graduates.

For Fulkrum, the session was a chance to share real industry experience and give students a better idea of what it takes to start a career in IT.
