Fulkrum Connects UUM with Singapore Polytechnic for Industry Collaboration

Singapore, 29 July 2026 – Following Fulkrum’s earlier visit to Singapore Polytechnic in April 2026 to explore potential collaboration in robotics, technology, and student development, Fulkrum returned to Singapore Polytechnic during the Regional Industry Networking Conference (RINC) 2026, this time bringing Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) into the engagement. The initiative was part of Fulkrum’s CSR effort to connect UUM with Singapore Polytechnic and give the university first-hand exposure to how education and industry can work together.
Fulkrum saw an opportunity to build on its previous discussions with Singapore Polytechnic by bringing UUM into the conversation. The aim was not only to introduce the two institutions, but to give UUM the opportunity to see how industry engagement, R&D and student programmes can be connected within an education environment. Fulkrum also proposed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UUM and Singapore Polytechnic as a possible platform for continued collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The engagement brought together representatives from Fulkrum, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) and Singapore Polytechnic (SP). UUM was represented by Dr. Fazli Azzali and Mr Baharudin Osman, while Singapore Polytechnic was represented by Mr Chia Chow Leong and Mr Arun Kumar. During the meeting, Mr Arun Kumar shared insights into Singapore Polytechnic’s R&D efforts, industry partnerships and student-driven programmes. This was followed by a tour of the institution led by Mr Chia Chow Leong, giving the UUM team a closer look at its facilities and operations. The discussion and tour gave UUM a better understanding of how industry engagement can support education, research and student development, while opening the way for future collaboration.
The engagement also gave UUM exposure to a wider industry network, with more than 30 companies showcasing live technology solutions and over 35 employers offering career and industry opportunities. This gave UUM a broader view of current industry practices, technology applications and workforce needs. For Fulkrum, this reflects the value of giving academia closer access to industry and creating more opportunities to develop the talent of tomorrow.
